(2012, International parents) super |
Even though Dr. Smotrich from LaJollaIVF is quite short-spoken and not too compassionate on the phone, he is very caring and charming when you meet him in person. He is very professional and experienced, explains everything to the extend necessary for his clients to feel comfortable, answers questions at any time - even on weekends - and has great staff as well. |
(2011, International parents) The Surrogate had to solve problems on our behalf. Think they need better logictisic support |
(2009, USA parents) Our only criticsim of La Jolla was that that they didn't give appropriate gravity to the BIG decisions (e.g. # of embryos to transfer) and we felt incredibly rushed in these decisions when we could have easily had advance conversations to cosider all angles before having to decide. Ulitmately, the "results" discussion and resulting decisions were presented in the same discussion and we were given mere minutes (literally) to make our most important decisions of the process.
Otherwise, La Jolla was spectacular - fun, friendly, responsive and very easy to work with. |
(2011, International parents) I have recommended the clinic to two friends who have started the process. |
(2014, USA parents) The doctor is definitely very good in terms of knowledge and experience. But I do not like his bed-side manners. He is not friendly at all.
They also do not deal with insurance companies. We ended up paying everything out of pocket even though our insurance covers IVF. I am using a different clinic for the second journey and they bill our insurance company directly. |
We chose to change clinic in the process because we were unhappy with the attitude of the first one (Dr. Jeffrey Steinberg / LA). Dr Smotrish at La Jolla IVF was much nicer to work with. |
The doctor and I had several phone conversations prior to IVF, he suggested, since i was a single male that I get a prof home investigation by a private agency to ensure acceptability with the judge when it comes time to award parentship. (if I was a hetero couple, this would not have been necessary, given the facys, I respected his advisement) |
(2013, USA parents) We got pregnant on the first try, so for that reason alone I would recommend this clinic. The clinic seemed a bit disorganized during our donation (which is not what you want to feel during this process). Dr Smotrich was nt the most warm and friendly person. We felt like we were in a factory. |
(2016, USA parents) DR. Smotrich is excellent as a doctor. Great skills. First attempt for twins --> Success! |
We started afresh at La Jolla IVF following a very unsatisfactory process at a clinic in Encino, and with no baby at the end of it. The experience could not have been more different. Dr Smotrich spent a long time with us, and guided us extremely well to ensure a successful outcome this time round. All his staff, especially Lupe, Carey, and Ezarra were very friendly, receptive and helpful. We followed all the recommendations, and are now proud parents of beautiful, healthy twins. |
(2013, International parents) El trato fue muy bueno y nos tuvieron informados de como iba el proceso en todo momento. |
As two men trying to create our family through unnatural (medical) avenues, Dr Smotrich made us feel very comfortable and the entire process feel 'natural'. We couldn't have had a better experience with him or his clinic. |
Dr. Smotrich is kind, sensitive, communicative, had our best interest in mind at all times, and got us pregnant on the first try! |
